Web Design Tips

Just having we website on the internet is not going to help your business grow and flourish. Whether you use Beach Software as your web design company or not, have a read of these tips and apply them to your website.

  • Website Structure & Content
    • Keep your navigation simple and clear, don't make users guess, make it obvious where they need to go.
    • Movement in a website is great, but don't over do it, don't flash or scroll too much.
    • Keep content short and to the point, highlight the important bits. Change it often to keep it fresh.
    • Don't tell your visitors absolutely everything, make sure that there is a reason to call you to build a relationship and convert browsers to sales.
    • Your website is not the same as your printed brochure. Screen and print are not the same.
    • Ensure you meet your legal requirements by including an About Us page.
    • Make it really obvious how people can get in touch with you, include a land line, mobile, e-mail and if possible your address.
    • Don't forget that your users are humans, not search engines!
    • Make sure your links contain good keywords - not just 'click here'.
  • Marketing
    • Ensure your website address is relevant to your business. Don't be afraid to use hyphens (-). Consider using a short version for repeat visitors. The most important type of website address is the .co.uk for UK business.
    • Put your website address on all of your stationary, cars, promotional items etc.
    • Focus your website around the keywords you want to be found for in search engines. Make sure you talk about your business services, even if they are obvious from your companies name.
